Life is busy at any stage of life, as our fast-paced world becomes more demanding. Relax! Eat, walk, and work at a relaxed pace. Though that is definitely easier said than done, there are several ways to relieve stress. Choose at least three from the following list and implement these ideas into your daily routine. Don’t be concerned if you can’t stick to the relaxing habits you are trying to add to your day, as implementing stress-relief practices can take time.

Limit Unhealthy Habits: Limit alcohol consumption and don’t smoke.

Balanced Diet: Eat a healthy diet with whole grains, fruits, and vegetables.

Be realistic: Don’t take on more than you can handle and don’t be afraid to politely say “no”.

Move through the day: Implement exercise into your day to boost endorphins and experience a change of scenery.

Practice relaxation techniques daily: Try to eat, walk, and work at a relaxed pace. Find quiet time for reading, yoga, and meditation.

Release Emotions: Don’t hold in negative feelings, but find a safe place to express them or communicate with supportive friends and family.

Identify stressors: Try to identify the things that cause stress.

Get organized: Cluttered spaces can lead to more anxiety. Clean environments can clarify your thoughts.

Consume more Omega-3s: Omega-3 fatty acids can help reduce pro-inflammatory markers and help balance mood.

Have fun: Find enjoyable activities to include in your day, such as your favorite sport, hobbies, talking with friends or family.

Stop & smell the roses: Pay attention to the simple things by making an effort to go outside daily and admiring the scenery, weather, etc.

Breathe: Pay attention to tension in your body (jaw, neck, shoulders, etc.) Breathe deeply and stretch tense areas. If your mind is worried about past or future events, take a few minutes to breathe and switch your focus to something serene. If you can, walk outside for a change of scenery.
